CHANGES Community Health Project

CHANGES promotes positive wellbeing and provides opportunities for people in East Lothian to find ways towards healthier and less stressful living. We are a Primary Care service supporting people experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues. CHANGES does not have a formal referral system, so adults who live in East Lothian and feel they could benefit from the services the project provides, can get in touch directly.

Most people contacting CHANGES will be offered a place on our First Steps Towards Positve Mental Health and Wellbeing course, which aims to help people better understand how stress and anxiety affects them. We offer a range of other courses including Think Positive Feel Positive, Assertiveness, Relaxation, Self-Esteem, Understanding Anxiety and Panic, Healthy Eating and Exercise and Support Groups. CHANGES also offers a Counselling service and a Cognitve Behaviour Therapy (CBT) service. CBT focuses on your thinking and your actions and helps people to move forward positively.

The Wellbeing Walks service aims to support people to improve their mental health by being part of a walking group. In addition, trained volunteers can offer support to people on a one to one basis to start walking and walk more. CHANGES also has a team of volunteers who help to run groups and courses and can offer one to one support, before, during and after a course. We also have a comprehensive resource library of books, leaflets and self-help material, covering a wide range of mental health issues, which can be lent out to anyone in East Lothian. There is no charge for the service provide by CHANGES.
