The Welcoming Association
/The Welcoming is an independent charity established to support New Scots (refugees, asylum seekers and migrants) to feel at home in Edinburgh by building communities and learning together.
Our vision is to build a diverse and inclusive Scotland where everyone feels welcome and can achieve their full potential. We see connecting locals and New Scots through the social and cultural exchange as a vital process in integration, building social capital and influencing positive change.
Our programme of activities and services includes:
Free drop-in English classes and conversation groups, level completely Beginners to Advanced
One-to-one employability advice, employability courses and support to access local services and skills development opportunities
One-to-one and group befriending opportunities
Health and Wellbeing groups
Community Fridge and Home energy savings advice
Cultural community events and outings
Volunteering opportunities for locals and New Scots
