Out and about: Wellbeing Works in Dundee

When we get a chance, the CHEX team like to get out the office to see all the brilliant work that community-led health organisations are doing to improve people's health and wellbeing.

Recently, Sarah was in Dundee, meeting with Wendy and her team from Wellbeing Works.

Wellbeing Works promotes better wellbeing for those who face mental health challenges: building confidence, skills, connections with others and a positive impact on their community.

Based in the Wellgate Shopping Centre in Dundee City Centre, Wendy’s team structure their work around the evidence based 5 Ways to Wellbeing through Wellbeing Skills, Creativity, Social Connections, Outdoor Activities and Giving.

Sarah visited the pretty unique greenhouse run by the team, the first we've ever seen used in a shopping centre for growing fruit and veg!

She met with Dee and learned about the Community Toolbox project, which enables people for a small annual fee to borrow useful DIY equipment and tools.

Sarah also met Ellie, their creative facilitator, and admired the wonderful artworks created by participants in their fantastic dedicated space.

To find out about all the different activities, opportunities, groups and training visit the Wellbeing Works website (or, even better, if you are in Dundee pop in and meet the team in person.)

If you've got some great community-led health work going on in your area, let us know!

We're always looking for good examples and case studies to showcase in Snippets and on our website. You can email Sheena, our comms person, who is always happy to chat.
